Fitzroy Crossing

The Fitzroy Crossing program began in November 2015 with full support from the Fitzroy Crossing District High School and local Elders.

The return of a couple of university students as mentors to their old school had a profound impact on the current students who saw the possibility of a life beyond the school and their community. Using the local community accommodation while we mentored opened up conversations with local students at TAFE who were living there. They too saw an opportunity to move to Perth to further their studies and one young man followed the mentors down to Perth in 2016 to complete his Park Ranger course. He is returning in 2016 as a school mentor. There are two trips planned each year to Fitzroy Crossing and we aim to see the same relationship we have established with Halls Creek  in this community.
